Wahoo Pharmacy ends Blue's Season

WAHOO--The Wahoo Pharmacy Blues scored in each of the first four innings Monday to jump to a 9-0 lead en route to a 10-3 victory over the York Blue in the Class B, Area 4 Tournament at Sam Crawford Field.  With the loss, the Blue finished the season with an 8-13-1 record.

Wahoo nicked starting and losing pitcher Evan Norton for three runs in both the first and second innings to take a commanding 6-0 lead.  Norton, who had tossed nearly 100 pitches on Sunday, was called upon once again Monday.  Norton's iron arm was good for 122 pitches as he went the distance for the Blue.

Jarrett Suddarth got York's first hit in the top of the fourth inning. After stealing second base, the next three batters went gently and stranded Suddarth at second base. In the fifth inning, the Bankers loaded the bases with one out and still couldn't dent the scoreboard.

However, the Wahoo shutout went out the door in the bottom of the sixth inning when York sent eight batters to the plate.  Chad Hulse crushed a double to the left field wall but was later cut down trying to steal third base.  Henry Ott walked and promptly stole second and came flying home when Michael Powell ripped a single to left field.  Dylan McGowan got his first hit of the season, and it was a bullet between the third baseman and the shortstop which scored Powell.

Suddarth led York with two hits.
